The Best Moment of RAW (4/25/2016)

Welcome back to “The Best Moment of RAW,” where I, Mr. X, take an entire episode of WWE’s flagship television show, Monday Night Raw, and boil it down to the very best that it had to offer. This week, the best moment of RAW goes to Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. They were given their own segment to highlight their over a decade long rivalry.

Then Sami took on Rusev in a very solid match. It’s always nice to get new match ups from WWE. They can get way too comfortable reusing the same match over and over again (take Sheamus vs. Randy Orton, for example – we’ve seen that match too many times to count).

Other than that, there really wasn’t much to this episode of RAW. We did learn that Vince McMahon will return at Payback on Sunday to determine which one of his children will run Monday Night Raw going forward: Shane or Stephanie and The Authority. Here’s hoping he keeps Shane O’Mac in that spot. His presence has seemingly brought a new life to WWE’s flagship television show, and it’d be a shame to see that come to an end.

Roman Reigns and AJ Styles each had a match that made them look strong. Same goes for Anderson and Gallows, who made their WWE in-ring debut opposite The Usos. The match was fine. Gallows and Anderson’s entrance music, however, is straight dookie. As Fre pointed out, if they removed the vocals, it wouldn’t be too bad. With them included, however, the theme is a dumpster fire.

Luckily, if there’s two dudes who won’t be ruined by a bad entrance theme, it’s those badasses. Especially after Sunday, when they turn on AJ. We’re all agreed, right? They’re definitely going to turn on him? Hopefully it involves Finn Balor in some way. We’ll see on Sunday when Payback airs.

For those who need a refresher, here is the card for the upcoming pay-per-view:

  • (PRE-SHOW) Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback for the WWE United States Championship
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
  • The Miz (c) (with Maryse) vs. Cesaro for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
  • Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho
  • Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens
  • Charlotte (c) (with Ric Flair) vs. Natalya (with Bret Hart) for the WWE Women’s Championship
  • Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch) to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Tag Team Championship
