The Best Moment of RAW (4/18/2016)

Welcome back to “The Best Moment of RAW,” where I, Mr. X, take an entire episode of WWE’s flagship television show, Monday Night Raw, and boil it down to the very best that it had to offer. This week is all about AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows. They kicked off a storyline on last night’s episode that could very well change the face of the WWE.

Early in the night, while conducting a backstage interview with Mauro Ranallo, AJ was greeted by Luke and Karl, his old buddies from back in NJPW and The Bullet Club. They reconnected and all that, walking off together to go reminisce on some of their shared history. A little while later, Roman Reigns came to the ring, and cut his “I’m the guy” promo. Then AJ Styles’ music hit, and out he came.

He proceeded to put Roman over big time as a great WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and a humongous challenge. The Phenomenal One even said that he knew he’d have to have the match of his life to win. Then he put himself over even bigger by saying that having the match of his life is what he does, and that’s why he’s been a champion all over the world. It was a pretty solid segment, and really helped add to the big fight feel for the Payback main event.

After that, AJ left the ring, which is when Gallows and Anderson struck. They hit the ring quick and caught Roman Reigns completely off guard. Then they planted him and headed off towards their buddy AJ, who did not look pleased.

The next segment showed AJ rushing to explain to Roman that he had nothing to do with what Gallows and Anderson did. This is a nice twist on the classic nWo storyline. Is AJ lying? Did he give them their orders? Is he going to join them in what looks to be a reign of devastation and destruction?

A lot of people think the swerve is going be that Roman is the leader, and Gallows and Anderson join The Roman Empire. I wouldn’t hate that. Mostly because the reaction would be humongous. Personally, I’ve reached a point where I just don’t know what’ll happen, and I’d rather take the ride. For the first time in a long time, I’m actively excited to see more of the WWE product.

I can’t wait to watch SmackDown on Thursday, all so I can see where this storyline does.

Monday Night Raw was a good show last night, but my mind can’t get off this Bullet Club stuff. So to finish this installment off, I’m going to share some of the better segments from the episode. Enjoy!
