Your predictions specialist has returned. I’m here to let you know how tonight’s WWE pay-per-view will play out. This is only the second FastLane event to ever take place. The first one, which took place last year, saw Roman Reigns defeat Daniel Bryan in the main event to cement his status as number one contender for Brock Lesnar’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 31.
Will this year’s show see Roman defeat Brock to become number one contender for Triple H’s title at WrestleMania 32?
Let’s find out!
United States Championship
2 out of 3 Falls Match
Kalisto vs. Albert Del Rio
How is a title match on the pre-show and not the actual one?! What an insult to the participants and more so the title. Don’t care. I’m going back to what I said I would do, and that’s never picking Del Rio for anything!
My pick for this match is Kalisto!
AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho
I haven’t seen AJ Styles in a while. I don’t remember the year but it was when he was still in TNA. I hadn’t kept up with anything he’s done, I haven’t seen in work in the indy scene or NJPW. That being said, I’m so far not impressed with what he’s been doing in WWE. There may be a few factors to this.
He is getting older. The years of wrestling may have taken their toll. The most likely reason is that it’s just a different style than what I’m used to seeing with him in TNA, what with the quicker pace of the matches there, and the different sized ring. These are certainly factors that couldn’t or maybe shouldn’t be overlooked with my critique so far. That’s not to say that he won’t impress me in the future, he is The Phenomenal One after all.
This is the tie breaker between Styles and Jericho. However, this feud also involves the Miz for some reason. The reason is to help get Styles over, if not also to give Miz something to do. You don’t need Jericho and Miz to get someone over. I’m going to cut this short: in the end, Miz will lose. Whatever the capacity of which he’ll continue to be involved, he’s going to lose.
In the end, Jericho, he’s going to lose. He’s been doing this for the last couple of years, he comes back to put guys over. In the end, we know Styles is going to win. That being said, the end isn’t tonight.
My pick for this match is no one. This match is going to end in DQ when the Miz interferes. I look forward to Styles vs. Jericho at Mania.
If you guys really need me to pick someone, it would be Styles, but I really think this ends in DQ.
Ryback, Big Show and Kane vs. The Wyatt Family
I’m not going to pretend to know what they’re planning with this one, or that I even care, quite frankly. While I’m a huge fan of The Wyatt family, not too long ago, they had laid Ryback out, and Bray was cutting some sort of promo. I couldn’t have cared less. I don’t know what was trying to be conveyed, if anything. I don’t know if it was because anything that night was being overshadowed by Daniel Bryan retiring, or what. All I know is that I didn’t care.
It also doesn’t help that Ryback, Big Show, and Kane were all seemingly thrown together to make a 6-Man tag match happen. Sure they all have had their little things here and there against the Wyatts, but it’s just too thin a veil for me to become invested. Maybe something will come of this but I am doubtful.
My pick for this match is The Wyatt Family.
Divas Championship Match
Charlotte vs. Brie Bella
It seems to me that they are holding back Sasha Banks, putting her in roles just to keep her away from Charlotte and the Divas Championship. If that’s the case, I can get on board with it, as long as the payoff is their match at Mania.
My pick for this match is Charlotte.
Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks vs. Team B.A.D.
How isn’t this match on the pre-show?!
Does anyone even care about this match? The biggest disappointment in the feud is Becky Lynch. I don’t know if this is by design, but putting her on the mic and in the spotlight has shed light on just how bad her promo skills are. I don’t know if I was just distracted by her Electric Lava hair color before, but on SmackDown a couple weeks ago, it became apparent to me. Sorry to be so down on Becky Lynch, she just really needs to work on her promos.
They are pretty bad.
I don’t think it’s necessary to get too in-depth about TEAM B.A.D. or this match, for that matter, because as I stated in regards to the Divas Championship match, this is only to lead into Mania.
My pick for this match is Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks.
Intercontinental Championship Match
Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler
Owens won the title this week! I don’t think he’s going to be dropping it anytime soon. What could they possibly do with Ziggler and the title at this point? Maybe it’ll be like last year’s WrestleMania, and they’ll have a huge multi-man match. That doesn’t require Dolph to win it, however.
My pick for this match is Kevin Owens.
Triple Threat Match to Determine Triple H’s Opponent at WrestleMania 32
Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar
I knew Triple H couldn’t stop himself from putting himself in WrestleMania! I knew it!
My pick for this match is Roman Reigns.
He makes the most sense to win, storyline wise. They’ve pushed his story against The Authority for so long, they aren’t dropping it yet. The match ends with Roman against The Authority’s Champion, Triple H, at WrestleMania 32.
