There’s a “Cloverfield” Sequel Coming

Last night, I was in and out of consciousness by midnight. Sometime after one AM, I awoke, and my brother almost immediately informed me that there is a sequel to “Cloverfield” on the way. I didn’t know what to think.

Then he showed me the trailer. The movie is called “10 Cloverfield Lane.” It’s about a woman, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who wakes up in a cellar, being held captive by a man, played by John Goodman. John Gallagher, Jr. rounds out the cast (Jim from “The Newsroom”).

J.J. Abrams has released a statement about this (all credit to

“The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.”

“A blood relative.” As bloody-disgusting points out, that phrasing sure makes the flick seem more like a spinoff than a sequel. I guess you can call it whatever you want. All that matters is it takes place in the same universe that “Cloverfield” took place in.

So, what do you guys think? Are you as hyped as I am for a “Cloverfield” sequel? As always, feel free to hit the comment section, and tell me all about it.

Oh, and I almost forgot: “10 Cloverfield Lane” is already done. It hits theaters on March 11th, 2016.
