Full Match – Prince Devitt vs. Kota Ibushi

Lately, the wrestling world has been on fire with news that AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Doc Gallows, and “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson are all leaving NJPW for the WWE. It’s a big story, and has created the most amount of interest in signings since 1996, when Kevin Nash and Scott Hall went over to WCW, and soon after, helped usher in the NWO. I think they’re going to try something similar with AJ, Doc, and Anderson, basically turning The Bullet Club (or Balor Club) into this generation’s New World Order.

I only say this because the WWE has never shied away from recycling their old material. Look at Roman Reigns. The Stone Cold Steve Austin push is what finally got him over with the crowd. That whole thing could be seen as an excuse to recycle NWO/D-X scripts for the club.

Anyway, that’s a subject for another time. I brought all that up, because I know the Japan signings have stoked the flames of interest for a lot of people who would’ve never thought about watching NJPW. Those same people have to be curious about Finn Balor’s work while he was in that promotion. Finn Balor, in case you’re unaware, was known as Prince Devitt in Japan, and he was a huge star.

The match embedded below took place at Wrestle Kingdom 8. It was for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship, which Devitt was the holder of. His opponent, Kota Ibushi, is the man who had a stellar match with Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 9. This is the internet, so it could be easily written off as a rumor, but I heard that Ibushi vs. Nakamura is what motivated WWE to really go after signing Nakamura. That’s what you’re in store for.

The following match is all quality. Do yourself a favor, sit back, relax, and press play.
