After “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” blew my butt hole out, I came home and started talking to all my friends about it. One of them told me that J.J. Abrams had read the Episode VIII script, and called it the best thing he ever read. I really wanted more information on that.
Well, I have it, thanks to an interview with Greg Grunberg, J.J.’s lucky charm.
“He read it and said something he never, ever says,” Grunberg, who plays pilot Snap Wexley in the new film, tells The Post’s Comic Riffs. “He said: ‘It’s so good, I wish I were making it.’
So, as the title reads, that means the script for “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is a banger. That doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Rian Johnson is writing and directing that film, and he is one of the most talented young filmmakers in the business. His past credits include, “Brick,” “The Brothers Bloom,” and “Looper,” which are all fantastic.
Can’t wait to see what he does with Star Wars.
