Welcome back to Huge Crowd Reactions in Wrestling. This series is basically an excuse for us here at Nerdopotamus to revel in some of the moments that made us lose our minds. I mean, we’re all pretty huge wrestling fans. We live for those huge crowd reactions. Even as at-home viewers, those are the moments we crave. We want to be on the edge of our seats, or even out of them entirely.
Consider this installment a companion piece to issue #3. For that one, we covered the “Championship Ascension Ceremony,” which was completely hijacked by The Yes Nation. It’s really something else. They start chanting, and then don’t stop for several minutes. If you haven’t seen it, you really should click over. It’ll make the hair on your arms stand up.
For this issue, we have the aftermath of that particular ceremony. The video is labelled as, “Unseen footage of the brawl between former WWE and World Champions: WWE.com Exclusive, Dec. 13, 2013.”
It starts with John Cena and Randy Orton. Then Randy puts his hands on CM Punk, who has no choice but to fire back. From there, Triple H steps in and forcibly throws Punk off of The Viper, and down to the mat. Again, Punk cannot let this stand, so he fires back, and unloads on the COO of the WWE. Unfortunately for him, he catches a superkick from HBK for his troubles. Even worse for Shawn Michaels, however, is the fact this his involvement earns him two knees to the face from a running Daniel Bryan.
After that, Orton tries to RKO D-Bry, but he reverses it and pushes Randy off, sending him right into Stephanie McMahon. The force obviously drops her to the canvas. This trespass earns The Apex Predator a particularly aggressive Pedigree from Triple H.
It’s really cool how everything breaks down. Do yourself a favor, and click play.
This was perfectly executed. They smoothly go from spot to spot, and it all works. More importantly, the crowd was WAY into it. Especially when Punk hit Triple H, and then Bryan hit HBK. All of those guys were over AF in their roles. Bryan and Punk were the top faces. Triple H was the top heel, and everyone hated HBK for costing Bryan the title at Hell in a Cell 2013. Then there was Orton and Cena – you know – being Orton and Cena.
All total, it’s a little over two of the best minutes of television that RAW has ever produced.
THIS SERIES OF ARTICLES IS BROUGHT TO YOU IN PART BY MARK OUT ENTERTAINMENT
We here at Nerdopotamus are thrilled to have joined forces with Mark Out, and its owner Anthony Iovino.
Our goal is to present you all with more quality wrestling-based content. That’s why our first venture together will be the Nerd/Out Top 100 Wrestlers of the Year. We have formed a committee. The selection process has begun. The qualifying period is from WrestleMania 31 to WrestleMania 32.
That doesn’t mean it will be limited to WWE, to be clear. The performer’s promotion matters as much as their gender, which is not all. The only thing that matters is their ability as a professional wrestler.
Numbers 100-91 will be published on April 4th, 2016. From that point on, we’ll drop another ten numbers every day, until we are finished on the 13th.
We hope you all join us!
