Why Is Everyone Mad At Vince McMahon?

I don’t understand what’s happening. Recently, it got out that Lana and Rusev are engaged (IRL), which put the final nail in the coffin for the feud featuring Dolph Ziggler and Lana, opposite Rusev and Summer Rae. Word is, Vince McMahon is angry. I understand it. Essentially, he had to scrap an entire angle that he spent months building, all because Lana couldn’t pop her ring off when she took pictures.

Did I enjoy the Dolph/Lana vs. Rusev/Summer angle? Hell no. I’m hyped it’s dead. That doesn’t mean Vince feels the same way.

Speaking of being dead, people are losing their minds because they think it’s ridiculous for Vince to be angry, when kayfabe has been dead for a long time. Those people are wrong. That’s really the best way I can put it. Kayfabe is not dead. Vince just put a real world spin on it.

I guarantee there are people who talk about “Total Divas” like it’s real. During production, it might as well be real for those girls. They have camera crews with them – all the time. They live their lives on camera.

The same people who claim kayfabe is dead, need to realize that Vince McMahon was the one who decided he was tired of trying to keep it up. Then Twitter came around, and the game got changed. In case you didn’t notice, that is the one remaining bastion of kayfabe. Look at what they did with Ziggler and Lana. Before SummerSlam 2015, the company had them go to Disney and take pictures together.

Think about it.

On that day, Dolph Ziggler’s job was to go to Disney, and hang out with Lana. He’s the real victim here. TMZ ruined that for him!

Look at how sad he is!

Seriously, though, the way some fans talk about Vince is really ridiculous. He’ll always be evil Mr. McMahon. No one ever takes into account that the real man has a real business to run, and Lana and Rusev put a wrench in that. Say what you will about the angle, but somebody believed in it. It was getting tons of television and PPV time. They were sending both couples around to try and keep up the act (I am, of course, referencing the pictures that WWE took of Rusev and Summer together, at a beach).

There was a heavy investment there. If I was Vince McMahon, I’d be pissed too. First, Lana gets injured, so he has to stretch the angle longer than he wanted to (as I understand it, the blowoff was supposed to be a mixed tag match at Night of Champions).

Then – and I can’t stress this enough – because Lana couldn’t pop her ring off for a second to take a couple selfies, Vince had to kill the entire thing. That’s what led to TMZ breaking the story, by the way. Fans were like, “hey Lana, what’s the deal with that purdy ring on your finger,” and then the gossip rag pounced. That’s literally what they do.

After they broke the story, this is what happened to Rusev:

The IWC (Internet Wrestling Community) practically shit itself when that happened. Rusev lost to Ryback? Vince hates him, and Rusev is being buried!

If the IWC was localized in Springfield, there would be angry, torch-wielding mobs showing up to Vince’s door on the reg. I’m not going to play holier than thou, and say I’ve never been angry at decisions that Vince made. I mean, I was furious when Daniel Bryan wasn’t in the 2014 Royal Rumble. It was even worse when he got eliminated the next year.

Even then, though – I hoped there was something coming to make up for it. My faith was rewarded on both counts. I got lucky with WrestleMania 30, and then at WrestleMania 31, Roman Reigns went and proved why fans don’t get to make decisions for the company.

It’s that simple. Vince McMahon is the boss. Love it, or hate it – he makes the decisions. On this occasion, he’s decided that Lana and Rusev were out of line for letting their personal business get in the way of his actual business. That’s his right.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of Rusev and Lana together, so I’m excited that the door is open for that again. Hopefully, Vince isn’t going to bury them as deep as people have been predicting. With that said, if he does, they brought it on themselves.

All Lana had to do was TAKE HER RING OFF!!
