As you can see, I’ve grouped the first and second episode of this season together. It’s not because I didn’t like the first episode. In fact, it’s because I loved it. I never got a chance to write a piece for it, because I was too busy watching it multiple times, and laughing my ass off. PC Principal is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
In the span of one twenty-two minute episode, Trey Parker and Matt Stone were able to skewer an entire culture. From the beginning, they nail it. The opening of the season is PC Principal rolling into South Park elementary, and giving a speech, which ended with him making a siren noise, and then declaring, “You hear that? It’s the sound of 2015 pulling you over – SUCK IT!” Then he straight dropped the microphone.
From there, PC Principal is met with resistance. Why wouldn’t he be? This is South Park. Political correctness and South Park do not go together.
The boys all assume that Cartman is going to lead the pack, and fight off PC Principal. However, before we even see him in the season, Eric has gotten multiple days of detention for calling someone, “clitty litter.”
They manage to convince him to take a shot at PC Principal, but it doesn’t work out too well. Eric’s plan is to frame the new Principal for raping Butters, but all it gets him is a brutal ass-whooping. He does lead an all-out attack on the PC fraternity later in the episode. A fraternity that Randy Marsh joins, by the way, leading to some of the funniest moments of the episode.
“Did I check his privilege? Yes. I had some refreshments, and I checked your friend’s privilege.”
Onto episode 2 of season 19.
This one is a dead-on, and razor sharp satire of all things Donald Trump. Filling in as the Donald of South Park: Mr. Garrison. Undocumented immigrants have been filing into South Park from Canada, and Garrison wants nothing to do with it. He flips out, and claims that the only way to get rid of them is to “fuck them to death.”
He then goes on to say that the US should ship the Canadians back, and build a wall around the United States/Canadian border. So, you know, all the dumb, sensationalist bs that Trump says. Garrison is thrown for a loop, however, when he finds out that Canada has already built a wall around their country, and won’t let anyone past. Obviously, he needs to know more.
What does he do? He gets into a barrel, and has some of his many followers throw him into Niagra Falls. He eventually washes up in Canada, and learns that the wall was built by Canada’s version of Donald Trump, who won their Presidential election. At the same time, Butters learns that the Canadian Donald Trump is why so many of them have come to South Park.
I don’t want to say anymore. If you haven’t seen either of the first two episodes of season 19, then you need to go watch them – right now.
If you have, then hit the comment section, and let’s talk about it.
Adding in PC Principal was an amazing way to start off season 19. Thankfully, there was no dip in quality, as Mr. Garrison became South Park’s answer to Donald Trump, and I laughed my Goddamn ass off.
I will most definitely watch again – probably multiple times.
