Recently, Daniel Bryan did an interview with Myles of 104.4 Virgin Radio Dubai, while promoting the upcoming release of WWE 2K16. They didn’t get into any stuff regarding his injuries, which I’m happy about. I don’t want any updates on that subject.
The last time we got one, it was a bummer. Let him live his life privately, and recover the best he can. Then, when he’s cleared to work, he can come back, and it’ll shatter our minds. It’ll blow the SummerSlam 2010 return out of the water.
Anyway, during the interview, D-Bry was asked which WWE Superstar he would like to see turn heel.
“I wish John Cena were a heel. I would love it. You know when Hulk Hogan became a heel, in 1996, and it just turned wrestling on…it literally changed, that was super-cool.”
He’s absolutely right. If Cena underwent as drastic a change as The Hulkster did when he went Hollywood, the industry would blow up again. John Cena is one of the best heels out there. Look at his work during ECW One Night Stand 2006. It’s incredible. He started his WWE Championship match with Rob Van Dam as a face, but that crowd hated him, so he went with it.
After that, Goatface was asked the flip-side of the same question (who he’d like to see turn face):
“I like The New Day as heels, but I can’t help but love them. I can’t help but cheer for them. They’re so much fun to watch. They’re probably my favorite…my favorite wrestler to watch right now in WWE is Cesaro, but my favorite act is New Day. They’re just so much fun.”
When pushed further, D-Bry dropped this:
“Seth Rollins would be a really good babyface, if he got the chance to turn.”
Agreed on every point. Man, I wish I could sit down and talk to Daniel Bryan about wrestling. I bet it would be incredible.
Click HERE to listen to the entire interview. It’s a great listen. He also talks about his desire to wrestle Brock Lesnar. For those who don’t know, the original plan for the main event of SummerSlam 2014 was Bryan vs. Lesnar, but D-Bry’s injuries got in the way. The exact same thing was supposed to happen.
Brock was supposed to obliterate Daniel. That would have been the biggest heel reaction in the history of the business. Way bigger than the one Lesnar got when he broke The Streak.
Kids would have been screaming. Tears would have most definitely rolled down the cheeks of many a grown man (myself included).
It would have been beautiful chaos.
