NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn + NXT 8/25/15 – The Aftermath

I’m going to go over these in the order they happened at the event, and not the way they will be airing on TV – or, in this case – the WWE Network.

It’s only $9.99!

NOTE: This piece was written to accompany Robert’s picks for NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, which can be found here and here. Also, spoiler alert, for those of you who intend on watching the upcoming episode of NXT.

Eight-Man Tag Team Match
The Hype Bros and Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. Jason Jordan & Chad Gable and Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson

Off to a good start for myself. I chose The Hype Bros and Enzo and Big Cas to win, and that’s exactly what happened.

Eva Marie vs. Carmella

No real surprise here – Eva Marie won. While I chose Carmella, if I could go back, I would still choose her. Having a prediction right wouldn’t matter to me in this instance, because I really don’t care for Eva Marie.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I was there. Eva Marie’s match was awful.

Bull Dempsey vs. Elias Samson

Another one in the win column! Bull! Bull! Bull!

Fatal 4-Way Match: Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Emma vs. Dana Brooke

I don’t know the circumstances for this win, but I assume things went down the way I predicted.

EDITOR’S NOTE: It was a mess. It may have been a mistake. I’ll be able to explain when I see how they air this segment, and whether or not there were substantial edits.

Like I said, a great technical match with the winner being, my pick, the legendary Jushin “Thunder” Liger.

I didn’t expect Blue Pants, did you? Whether you did or didn’t, The Vaudevillains won, as I predicted they would!

Apollo Crews vs. Tye Dillinger

First, I want to say, I don’t know how this pick ended up in the wrong article. I knew my pick, Apollo Crews, was debuting at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn. Sorry. Anyway, while Crews made his entrance, I couldn’t help but think:

“He’s going to be the new Bobby Lashley.”

I can’t say I mind that, as I liked Lashley when he debuted on SmackDown all those years ago.

Samoa Joe vs. Baron Corbin

While this match went on longer than I thought it would, it wasn’t bad at all. I think the only thing that could have made this one better, would be if there was no disqualification. Who knows? Maybe we’ll get that in the future. Of course I was right. There was no way that Samoa Joe could lose this match on this night.

NXT Women’s Championship Match
Bayley vs. Sasha Banks

MATCH OF THE NIGHT! I don’t get all that vocal while watching wrestling matches, but this one had me taken for quite a ride! I was physically all over the place. Hell, I was yelling at the top of my lunges! I was hoarse for the rest of the night. If you read my predictions, you’ll notice that I didn’t pick Bayley to win. I knew this would be a great match and I’m not disappointed. OH MAN, IT WAS SO GOOD!

NXT Championship Ladder Match
Finn Balor vs. Kevin Owens

I was worried going into this match, for the simple fact that I’m accustomed to shows ending at a certain time. It looked like they would have 30 seconds to put on a good match and I couldn’t think of how it would be possible. How were Kevin Owens and my pick, Finn Balor, going to put on a match of the same caliber as the rest of the night? Happy to say though, the show went longer than I thought it was going to. They put an exclamation point on the night with this match.

In total, I called 8 out of 10. 4/5. 80%. Not bad!
