The first property to be seen was Halo 5: Guardians. From a cinematic trailer, we see that we’re taking control of Locke, a new Spartan. He and his team of Spartans are after John, or Master Chief. During and after the announcement, social media and other online outlets were trending Halo 5. Why’s that?

Halo 5 offers a new take on the first person shooter franchise. There is a hunt going on for the spartan we’re all used to playing as. The trailer gave us a glimpse into how the game will be changing the formula as we know it. Arbiter is back, and as elite as ever. Judging his pro-Chief dialogue, it is suggested that Arbiter may be helping the combative Spartans, while protecting the legacy of Spartan 117.

Halo 5 introduces us to a new multiplayer mode dubbed Warzone. The new feature has elements of Firefight and Team Slayer, meaning PvE and PvP will be mixed. Games like World of Warcraft have been implementing the mix for years, with zones like Alterac Valley and Ashran, where close to one hundred players duke it out for supremacy while the environment attempts to halt both factions. The maximum amount of people locks at twenty-four this time around, allowing for outrageously large battles.

Recore, an Inafune (Megaman, Mighty No. 9) designed exclusive, promoted itself at the event. The exclusive, based off the trailer, uses an idea where your companion is a ball of energy, and you can insert the sentient glowing marble into mechanical objects, breathing life into them.

Fallout 4 returned from the previous night. Todd Howard gleefully skid onto stage talking about the partnership between Bethesda and Microsoft. He explained how PC user modifications can be downloaded on X-Box One game consoles.

Plants Vs Zombies 2 brought more color, new weapons, and new characters. Everything about the trailer was a vibrant parody of shooting games.

A big blue vehicle was lowered from the ceiling. The new Ford GT, in all it’s bright blue glory pumped the brakes to say hello. This was the reveal of Forza Motorsport 6.

There are twenty-six maps. Every map from the previous entry comes on disc. Don’t worry, new maps are shipping too.

The racer will feature wet weather effects, twenty-four cars driving simultaneously, and run in full high definition. Four-hundred-fifty cars are available from day one! More so, in progressive and trendy E3 fashion, many games, like Forza 6, allow for female characters to be an option for the player.

Dark Souls 3 loudly, in every sense of the word, played in front of the massive crowd. Although just a trailer without game play, it was a surprise to see the trilogy’s final game (although there will be more) wave at us from Microsoft head quarters.

Controversially, The Division reappeared. Several years in the making, and several years of being shown, The Division either is visually downgraded or now we’re accustom to what used to look like phenomenal graphics.

Ubisoft once again delivered on getting actors to show and tell us how rpg mechanics worked in this cover based shooter. The shared world experience, according to the live demo, reminded us that no one is safe and anyone may betray you at any given moment.

Phil Spencer spoke to us like a boy with a big secret. He said they thought it was the impossible. X-Box 360 backwards compatibility. Over one-hundred games will be available for the fancy feature on all X-Box One consoles via a free software upgrade.

Around the same time, new hardware appeared. The new X-Box One elite controller. A modular device for the more, well, elite player! You must see to believe.

Rainbow Six Siege appeared, offering new graphics and gameplay. Two X-Box 360 Rainbow Six games are included with the purchase of Siege.

Rise of the Tomb Raider reveals cinematic gameplay one year later from the original announcement. The game will be a timed exclusive, but only available on X-Box One for Holiday 2015. Lara Croft and her friend are ice climbing when suddenly an avalanche rushes toward them. Following a cut, not permitting us to see what happens to the protagonists in said scene, Lara then traverses different environments. Not everything will be snow and ice.

That wasn’t all. Rare shared a trailer for their new shared world pirate game, Sea of Thieves.

Fable Legends came back, reminding us it was free-to-play and cross platform playable with Windows 10 PC and X-Box One. The graphics held up, unlike other baking games, and the titan-like creatures that control the maps look larger than before.

The last big announcements were Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, a Gears of War remaster for X-Box One and PC and Gears of War 4. Gears of War:Ultimate Edition takes favorite mechanics from Gears of War 3, and implements them into the remaster for multiplayer modes. Playing the beta, I can assure fans of the series that the re-haul is nothing short of impressive.

Gears of War 4 played itself before the curtains closed. The game looks to take full advantage of new hardware. From what was seen, there are dual protagonists. There is JD a man, and Kait, a woman. Together, they use their flashlights to reveal barely lit areas of the game leading them to a trap with enormous enemies they’re forced to contend with. The feed cuts there. Guess we’ll have to wait for more.

Overall, Microsoft seemed to deliver during their live feed of the conference. Just two years ago, many were quick to jump ship when Microsoft’s policies were changing for what seem would deem “the worst.” Phil Spencer, head of the X-Box team, has done a brilliant job to repair the brand and X-Box the fun loving home console we all used to cheer for.
